Community Members Invited to Help Shape Future Health and Environmental Decisions

The Washington State Department of Health is inviting community members to participate in an upcoming online discussion about the Environmental Health Disparities (EHD) Map and how it can help guide future investments, programs, and policies across the state.

CHOICE is helping spread the word because state officials want to hear directly from residents — not just organizations, agencies, and community leaders. The goal is to ensure that future decisions reflect the real experiences, concerns, and needs of the people most affected by environmental and health challenges in their communities.

To encourage participation, eligible attendees will receive a $125 Walmart e-gift card upon completion of the Washington Department of Health Acknowledgment and Information Form, which will be completed during the meeting.

The session will feature Dr. Claudine Richardson, Community Engagement Strategist for the Washington State Department of Health's Environmental Health Disparities Map program. Participants do not need any prior knowledge or experience with the EHD Map to attend. The presentation is designed to be accessible and welcoming to all community members.

Notice of Plan Development

The Grays Harbor Homeless Housing Task Force and Public Health Staff are updating and further developing the Local Homeless Housing Plan for Grays Harbor County. The Washington State Department of Commerce mandates that local jurisdictions periodically submit a five-year local homeless housing plan for their respective jurisdictional areas. Guidelines outlining requirements and objectives for local jurisdictions are provided by Commerce, with consultative guidance from Homebase.

The Grays Harbor Homeless Housing Task Force comprises representatives including individuals with lived experience, residents of various cities, service providers closely engaged with the housing community, healthcare providers, youth and veteran advocates, the faith community, public health officials, and tribal representatives.

The plan's development will proceed throughout 2025, with finalization and adoption scheduled by the end of 2025.
